about

Wafflebarrel's origins go back to 2005, when Joe Deveau, Adam Weissman and Jeff Symonds, all playing for Rich Price (now in The Sweet Remains), met James De Prato while playing at Slim's in San Francisco. Jeff went on to join James in Megan Slankard's band for the last ten years, and the foursome talked about making music together someday. They finally got it together in 2011 and wrote and recorded their debut album in two days live at Hyde Street in San Francisco. While Joe is a world class vocalist, the band decided to record as an instrumental project.

II is the band's most recent album, and follows the same template (although the band indulged in overdubs this time out.) Written and recorded in two days, it features tracks written by all four members, from the James Gangish "WAM!" to the new wave funk of "Deep Shadows" to the Little Feat groove of "Rocket Mud" to the two-step of "Big Ass Truck" to the Can/Neu groove in "Frayed Wires" to whatever "Dirt Shaker" is (psychedelic Minor Threat, maybe?) DePrato, best known for being Chuck Prophet's lead guitar player in the Mission Express, contributed the album's standout track "Ants."

We hope you'll take the time to download the album, check it out, and let us know what you think. Like all musicians, what we want most of all is some feedback and to know that people out there had a chance to hear what we did.

III is in the works.
